    Course

    A. Period of the program

    PhD program: 2 to 7 years (excluding suspension).

    B. Graduation credits

    1. Entrance in 98-100 academic year, the minimal credit requirements for graduation is 23 credits including:

    (1) Obligatory courses: 17 credits.

         It is necessary to student to choose one from obligatory course of Bioinformatics, Introduction to Medical Genomics or General Genetic.

    (2) Optional courses: at least 6 credits (at least 4 credits from our institute).

    (3) PhD thesis, but not included in the requirements for graduation credits.


    2. Since the 101 academic year, the minimal credit requirements for graduation is 25 credits including:

     

    (1) Obligatory courses: 19 credits.

         It is necessary to student to choose one from obligatory course of Bioinformatics, Introduction to Medical Genomics or General Genetic.

    (2) Optional courses: at least 6 credits (at least 4 credits from our institute).

    (3) PhD thesis, but not included in the requirements for graduation credits.


    C. About the Advisor

    Students should choose their thesis advisor from the full-time faculties (including Adjunt faculties) before the first semester in the second academic year.

     

    D. About Qualified examination

    1. Should complete all the obligatory courses before their qualified examination.

    2. The qualified examination should be held and finished before the end of the third academic year.

    3. The examination contains test and oral presentation; and the test will be held in the second week after the beginning of each semester.

     

    E. Progress report

    Each student should start progress report in the seminar course in the first semester of each year since the second academic year.

     

    F. Defense of PhD Degree

    The application od defense of PhD degree should be in accordance with the following requirements:

    1. Be a PhD candidate and finish the minimal requirements of graduation credits.

    2. The student should have at least two publications (Impact factor 5.0 or more) or one that ranking in the top 1500 Journals in SCI. In the publications, one should be a first author publication and the other can be the      

        second or third author.

    3. The application of PhD defense should be proposed before Nov 30 in the first semester and April 30 in the second semester.

    4. The required documents including the followings:

        (1) The application form

        (2) The draft of PhD thesis

        (3) Transcripts of each academic year

        (4) Performance review

        (5) List of thesis committee

    5. One should withdraw his application if he could not finish the defense prior to the date of the end of the semester. If not, it will be count as failed in his record and only can have another one chance to re-do the defense.

    6. The dead line of upload the PhD thesis in our school is January 31 in the first semester or July 31 in the second semester. Students should also prepare another two thesis for school library.
